In Maciamboza, in the district of Cheringoma, the Triple Resilience Project (3R) is boosting income diversification for local families through horticulture. Vegetable production has become a viable alternative for generating income, especially by selling in local markets. At the same time, the food grown contributes directly to a more nutritious and balanced diet in households.
To guarantee the continuity of production throughout the year, the project introduced solar pumps that supply water constantly, even during periods of drought. This innovation has enabled families to keep their gardens active and resilient, overcoming the challenges associated with seasonal water shortages.
As well as promoting food security and increased income, the project also strengthens ties between community members. Shared agricultural practices, collective water management and the exchange of knowledge have contributed to greater social cohesion and a sense of solidarity among the beneficiaries.
With an integrated approach, the 3R Project is making progress in promoting the sustainable use of natural resources and improving living conditions in Maciamboza. The impact is visible in the strengthening of local capacities, the resilience of families and the construction of a fairer, greener and more prosperous future for all.
